Computer Science Teachers Association to launch NSA Day of Cyber LifeJourney Program

NSA Day of Cyber provides 21,000 Computer Science Teachers a powerful tool to connect Computer Science to the nation’s fastest growing STEM Career Pathway

NEW YORK, October 29, 2015 – In an effort to expand awareness of computer science education beyond “just coding,” The Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) is joining with the NSA, LifeJourney, and other organizations to premiere a new online Cyber Education Experience called the NSA Day of Cyber at the CyberMaryland 2015 Conference held in Baltimore, Maryland, October 29th at 8:00am.

The NSA Day of Cyber, sponsored by the NSA, powered by LifeJourney, provides educators a ready-to-use tool to bring cybersecurity into their classrooms. The interactive, online platform will enable students to test drive and experience a day in the life of six NSA cyber professionals and introduce them to challenging real-life cyber scenarios.

"The CSTA members, who are our nation's Computer Science teachers, will be one of the most powerful influencers of introducing cybersecurity skills to students by connecting the NSA Day of Cyber experience to what they are teaching in the classroom," remarked Rick Geritz, CEO of LifeJourney." It starts with the teachers, they will help shape and inspire our future generation of STEM and cyber professionals.”

“CSTA is excited to be a partner in the ‘NSA Day of Cyber’ experience,” said Mark R. Nelson, executive director for the association, whose more than 21,000 members are primarily K-12 computer science teachers. “The experience allows students to see that there is much more to computer science than programming. We hope it will engage the imagination of students to explore the growing diversity and number of careers in computer science and cybersecurity.”
