CSTA the advocate: A thread of CSTA's the voice
I’m proud to have worked alongside these board members to grow CSTA and find ways to support our teachers during this unprecedented year.

Full Story

CSTA’s Board of Directors focuses on developing a strong environment to support our members and for moving the organization forward. I’m proud to have worked alongside these board members to grow CSTA and find ways to support our teachers during this unprecedented year. Together alongside CSTA Board Chair Dan Blier and the rest of the board, I look forward to seeing how we continue to grow and support our CS teacher community.
Last month, we said goodbye to some of our long-term board members and welcomed a new face to CSTA’s Board. I’d like to thank these outgoing members for their years of dedication and service:
  • The words, "Thank you for your dedication to CSTA!" appear over headshots of two CSTA outgoing board members. Vicky Sedgwick and Bobby SchnabelBobby Schanabel

Serving on the board of an organization like CSTA is a big commitment in normal times, and this group was all essential in seeing us through momentous transitions and growth. Over my time at CSTA each of you was ready to step in and help out when I asked for guidance and advice.
Bobby, you have served CSTA and me personally as I learned the ropes of the Executive Director role. Thank you for your steady guidance and patience as we together figured out what the new era of CSTA would look like (and how we’d pay for it).
Vicky, your commitment to CSTA and K-8 CS teachers, in particular, is unbelievable. From supporting standards alignments, to developing teacher standards, to running the CSK8 Twitter Chat, to leading awards, to the countless improvements you’ve made as part of the conference committee, your impact and legacy will be seen at CSTA for years to come. More than anything, I truly appreciate your ability to always center the true needs of a classroom teacher, and bring ideas that meet their needs.
I’d like to congratulate 9-12 Representative Art Lopez and At-Large Representative Michelle Friend on their re-elections. I’d also like to welcome K-8 Representative Audra Kaplan to the Board. I’m also excited to announce the re-appointments of Greg Bianchi of Microsoft and Hai Hong of Google as partner representatives. Jane Prey will continue to support the Board of Directors as a non-voting advisor representing ACM.
I look forward to working with the Board to continue CSTA’s trajectory of growth and to support our members.
