Whether you are a K–12 computer science teacher or advocate, there are plenty of ways for you to get involved with and give back to CSTA! New opportunities will be posted throughout the year, so keep an eye out in our communications for more information.

For CSTA Members

Volunteer as a CSTA Membership Ambassador

Become a leader and mentor in the CS community to our newest members. As an Ambassador you will help welcome them into the association and connect new members to programs, activities, and chapters. You’ll be paired with a new member to help them start their CSTA journey off right!

Serve on a Committee

Help shape the future of CSTA by serving on one of our committees! Every committee is a little different; in general, committee members participate in one virtual meeting a month and approximately 2 hours of additional work outside of those meetings.

  • Conference: Help shape the program and experience of CSTA’s Annual Conference.
  • Professional Development: Evaluate and select among submitted professional development opportunities.
  • Membership: Help evaluate current benefits offered and determine a plan for strategizing different CSTA benefits to further membership growth.
  • Standards Alignment: Help evaluate curriculum offerings and alignment to the CSTA K-12 Computer Science Standards.
  • Chapter Leaders: Plan and facilitate professional learning opportunities for other CSTA chapter leaders.
  • CS Honor Society (CSHS) Advisory: Shape the CSHS program and help plan and facilitate support to CSHS advisors.

Share Your Voice

Grow CSTA’s Voice by sharing yours! We’re looking members to share their stories both as authors and resources to interviews. Read more about how to submit to CSTA’s The Voice and to be added to our source pool.

We’re also looking for volunteers to serve on our Editorial Board, where you’ll have the opportunity to shape the editorial calendar for The Voice and to source and write content.

CSTA local chapters build community among computer science teachers who are often isolated in their communities. Find your community by joining your local chapter. Don’t see a chapter in your area? Try searching by just the two letter-state abbreviations to see all of the local chapters in your state, some chapters are statewide! Still no luck? Reach out to chapters@csteachers.org to find out how you can spearhead a chapter, or to learn more about our virtual meetups.
